Christmas Pines

The sun is shining bright this morning and there is no snow . I live near the US/Canadian border and the snow will come eventually. For some reason this Christmas card reminds me of snow.

I used the Christmas pines stamp set and coordinating Pretty Pines thinlits. I had so much fun doing the pines. I first stamped the pines in Old Olive ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I then put Old Olive cardstock with Pretty Pines thinlit through my Big Shot and layered over stamped image with glue dots. The bow which is included in the thinlit set  is in Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The greeting, which I have used in several Christmas cards this year, is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Carols of Christmas

Well we are all into making our Christmas cards. I have made a simple card using the Carols of Christmas stamp set and Be Merry Designer Series Paper. The fold makes the card and it is so easy. Make your normal A2 card with some Whisper White Cardstock -then score the front of the card at 1 1/2 inches. Then fold back on the score line. The three different patterns of DSP are cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, 2 5/8 x 5 3/8, and 1 3/8 x 5 3/8. I  then stamped Deck the Halls in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. A Layering Square Framelit was placed on top and ran through the Big Shot. The sentiment was placed on a 3 x 3 piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. This card can be mass produced in no time at all.

And of course the Big Shot found on pg. 209 of the annual catalog. I used Snail adhesive on the first few then went to the Multi purpose glue found on pg. 202 of the annual catalog.

Have some fun making this card with the fold. It is a great way to use some of the DSP we all have a tendency to hoard.

Colorful Seasons

Good Morning! As I am sitting enjoying my morning coffee I am going to share a card that ladies created  at my class I have at the local library once a month. This card reminds me of Fall , my favorite season. Very simple but pretty . I like the clean and simple cards. The Fall colors are so rich. Please feel free to CASE this card. It will take you no time at all to make this card.

Grab your Colorful Seasons Bundle which includes the stamp set and seasonal layers thinlits dies. You will be using Very Vanilla , Old Olive, In Color Fresh Fig, and Crushed Curry cardstock. Fresh Fig 1/2″ woven ribbon added the final touch. Very Vanilla cardstock is used for your card base. Layer a 5″ x 4″ piece of Fresh Fig to base. Then layer a 4 5/8″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Old Olive . Finally layer a piece of Very Vanilla measuring 4 1/2 x 3 1/2. Make your leaves with thinlits and your Big Shot. I also had some scraps of Cajun Craze. Some of the women chose to make leaves with that color too. Sentiment “thinking of you” included in the Colorful Seasons stamp was used. Add your ribbon and you are finished.

World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day. I am planning to make at least 10 cards today. I like to have birthday cards and thinking of you cards on hand at all times. My goal is to send weekly cards  for no reason at all. Just to say “Hi”. I sent a birthday card to my Aunt. She texted me to thank me for the card and how much she enjoys getting my cards . She  is definitely on the list to send a card too.

So I challenge everyone today to make a card and send to someone for no reason at all except to say “Hi”.

Ribbon of Courage

This repost is in memory of Lisa again. Her smile was contagious.

 

As many of you know October is Breast Cancer awareness month. This post is in memory of Lisa . She was 33 when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 invasive ductal carcinoma in 2003. She fought her battle for four years . She passed in 2007. I remember visiting her once and I can still see her smile. I cannot fathom the pain and suffering she went through . So Lisa this is for you.

 

 

 

Lovely As A Tree

I have been giving classes at my local library during the summer months . And yes at the end of September it is still in the 80’s,  about twenty degrees warmer than usual. And who wants to think of Christmas in 80 degree weather ? Well we did and made two Christmas cards . I am showing one of them today . The tree is included in the Lovely As A Tree stamp set. The set has been a customer favorite for years. It has appeared in every annual catalog for at least the last five years if not longer . The set is so versatile . It is a great set to use for a  masculine card. I have used the set for birthdays, anniversaries and sympathy cards. This set is a go to set to add to your Stampin’Up collection .

Gift Box

I am trying to organize my craft room. Again. Don’t we all do this at least once a month. Or am I the only one?

Well I have a problem . I am a hoarder of Designer Series Paper. DSP for short. I have containers and more containers filled with new and retired paper.

I follow Pootles on Pinterest. She is a demonstrator from the UK. Website is http://www.pootles.co.uk. She designs the most beautiful boxes. I decided to try one. The boxes in my picture are 8x8x2. The lid and bottom of the box are each made with a 12 x 12 piece of DSP. Grab the Simply Scored Scoring tool found on pg. 205 of the annual catalog and some fast fuse. The box is so easy to make. You just score, tape , and fold. You can wrap a pair of socks , scarf or someone’s favorite candy . Tie a ribbon and voila.

Try one for yourself . I found Pootles on Pinterest then You Tube. The directions are for the enormous reinforced lidded birthday year of cheer box. I would love to hear your comments on this box.
