Hello Friend

20170915_173447

I can honestly say the Christmas Quilt bundle is my favorite of all time. I know I will say that again about another bundle but now it is this one. I have spent the last two days creating a dozen or so cards with the Quilt Builder Framelits. I know I should be thinking about Christmas cards but I need cards now for birthdays,  a friend having surgery , and a friend in Florida recovering from Hurricane Irma.

I chose the stamp set Hello Friend . I feel the greeting will express to everyone I am thinking of them . It is on pg. 17 in the annual catalog. At times I find it frustrating  choosing colors for a card. I draw a blank. Well Stampin Up helps you with that. My inspiration came from  the annual  catalog in the Designer Series Paper section (pg. 187-189) . Stampin Up gives a suggested cardstock pack with three colors to match the Designer Series Paper you choose. Well I had bought the Naturally Eclectic Cardstock Pack a while back. I went into my craft room and it jumped out at me. The Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, and Soft Sky are so cheery.

You can be so creative with this framelit set. I will try to create a “quilt block” using Designer Series Paper next.

I cant explain how much fun I had creating with this bundle. My mind is busy with  everything I want to  do with this set. The stamp set and framelits when bought as a bundle are priced at $45.75. Just so many ways to create a card. Have a great day and weekend. Thank you to my friend Susan for giving me the inspiration to use this set. I can’t believe I had not  opened until two days ago.

Products used are from the holiday (HC)catalog and the annual(AC)catalog. Please contact me if you need either catalog or click the shop now button.

Birthdays

20170905_151640

Good Morning!

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Florida with Hurricane Irma expecting to reach the state tomorrow.

I wanted to show you the cards my daughter made for her 10 year old twin nieces. A little story behind these cards. My daughter Clarissa loves to send cards . Our mall had a Hallmark  store and I swear she was there weekly. She would get reward dollars all the time. I would tease her about the foil sticker she would put on the back of that envelope. Well the store closed! She was devastated. She now goes to drug stores to get her cards.  She  cannot always find the card she likes and settles for another one.

She came over on a day off and wanted to learn how to can tomatoes. So we filled a canner and it was processing. She had put her daughter in for a nap. Now mind you I have been making cards since 2008. She would comment on the cards but remained a Hallmark customer. She said “Mom I need cards for my twin nieces who are turning 10. I would like to try and make them.” I could feel my jaw drop. She went into my craft room. She came out with the cutter, five stamp sets, and some inks. I showed her how to cut the paper. Then she sat down and started stamping. She finished and said “Mom that was fun.”  I could have said I told you so but I did not. I just told her to come over and make her cards anytime. I am looking forward to more afternoons of card making with her.

Have a great day and weekend. Thanks for stopping back. Char

Happiest of Days

20170906_162119

It is Wednesday and  I was supposed to fly to Florida today and celebrate my friend’s 60th birthday. But I cancelled my flight do to  Hurricane Irma. I am concerned for my friend Kim and her husband Tom and all my neighbors in our association in Boynton beach. Be safe.

So today I just stamped and made some cards. But does anyone have days when your cards just don’t come out how you want ? Well I did. This card is my third try and I had to cover a mistake on this one. I really like the stamp set Happiest of Days. The card was very simple to make. I used  a note card and added some washi tape. I then stamped the greeting ( which I think is so fun) in Pacific Point. I stamped the packages in Memento ink.  Coloring was not relaxing for me today.  But I love the color combination of Pacific Point, Calypso Coral, and Melon Mambo. I added some rhinestones to help cover a little mistake. I used a Layering Squares framelit to cut out the presents . I then layered packages with some Pacific Point . I will try coloring another day . Products used are:

  • Layering Squares Framelits (141708)
  • Watercolor Pencils (141709)
  • Pick a Pattern Washi Tape (144166)
  • Happiest of Days (143796)
  • Note Card (131527)
  • Pacific Point Cardstock (111350)

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that are in Hurricane Irma’s path.

Clearance rack is still available for shopping. And don’t forget the Paper Pumpkin promotion . And the Holiday Catalog. Oh so many choices.

Watercolor Words

20170819_142219

I have given a few classes at my local library during the summer. I have met some wonderful women. I don’t know who enjoyed the classes more them or me. I so enjoyed their excitement after they had finished their cards. We all had fun.

I wanted to show them a card where an embossing folder and a die was used with the Big Shot. The above card was a perfect example. I used whisper white cardstock. I then embossed a piece of daffodil delight with the new Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder. I cut a strip of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and wrapped some Daffodil Delight Double-Stitched ribbon around. One of my go to happy birthday stamps is in the Watercolor Words stamp set. I then placed a Layering Oval Framelit around the greeting and put through the Big Shot. All items are in the annual catalog.

Happy Birthday

20170823_06170020170823_061757

Good Morning everyone. Please bear with me on this morning’s post. I am trying to show the layout of this card which is different than the card you are used to seeing. I saw the idea on Pinterest and had to add another layer and my touch. I will tell you how to do this now . It is so easy with a little wow !

Take a piece of lemon lime twist cardstock and cut 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.

Then layer night of navy of navy cardstock cut at 5 1/8 x 4 1/4 to the lemon lime twist.

Cut a piece of whisper white cardstock at 3 1/4 x 8 1/2. Score at 4 1/4. Fold in half at score line and layer to your night of navy. I then cut a piece of scrap Naturally Eclectic DSP at 4 x 3 and adhered to the white .

I then stamped  the greeting from the Milestone Moments stamp set with peekaboo peach ink onto whisper white. I then used a layering oval framelit to cut out the shape with my Big Shot. And I seem to add dimensionals to every card and I did here with the greeting.

The Big Shot was used again with the flower found in the Support Ribbon Framelits. And to that flower I placed a clear faceted gem. Then add a personal message to the inside of your white piece.

Didn’t I tell you it was easy? I really like the format of this card.

Have a great day and Happy Birthday to my dear friend Susan .

Thank you for stopping by and until next time . Char

Naturally Eclectic DSP

20170809_210446

Well another post on the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper. I love the colors and prints in this set. My favorite set of DSP. It is sized 12 x 12. There are 2 each of 6 double -sided designs . The colors are Berry Burst, Emerald Envy, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Night of Navy, Peekaboo Peach , Soft Sky, and Whisper White. You can’t go wrong with all these colors.

I used Snail Adhesive (104332) to glue an Emerald Envy piece of cardstock (141415)measuring 4 7/8 x 3 3/8 to a notecard base (131527). I then took a piece of the DSP (144185) measuring 4 1/2 x 3 1/8 and adhered to the  Emerald Envy . I then stamped a greeting from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set (143855)  with the Emerald Envy ink pad (141396) on a piece of Whisper White cardstock(100730).   I punched the greeting with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch (133324). I tied with some Pool Party shimmer ribbon (144152). I then added some Mini Sequin Trim (144230) to the ribbon. I call it a cute ” just because ” card.

I hope you have a great weekend. A reminder of our two specials : Paper Pumpkin and some great clearance items you can now order. Click shop now and have fun.

Layering Love

20170814_094459

Tom and I were invited to  a margarita party  this last Sunday. Jan and Tom have known each other since birth. We all grow older, go our separate ways, and lose touch for awhile. It seems sometimes  the death of a parent  brings friends back together. It was so good to see her and her husband Mike. The house is on Lake Ontario. Jan and Mike have built a beautiful  outside bar with seating for about 20 people . It was a gorgeous day. We had such a good time. I decided I wanted to send a card, maybe a thank you. But then no I just  wanted to  send a card and tell them how great it was to see them.

I have been wanting to experiment with the stamp set called Layering Love. There are six stamps to this set . I love the saying “enjoy the little things” so that is the stamp I chose. I layered some Emerald Envy cardstock to a note card . I held a piece of naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper against the Emerald Envy and wow . I then added some Pool Party shimmer ribbon and layered to the  cardstock. I stamped the greeting to Whisper White . I placed a Layering Oval Framelit on my magnetic plate with the greeting and ran it through my Big Shot. I really don’t know what I would do without my Big Shot. Voila a card saying just what I wanted to say.

Paper: Emerald Envy, Whisper White , Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper

Ink: Emerald Envy

Stamp Set: Layering Love

Framelits: Layering Ovals

Special Celebrations

20170809_095845

Happy Weekend !!

I have been retired a year and a half. I remember always waiting for the weekend to come so I could  get home tasks  done and spend time with family and friends. Well now every day is the weekend  and I still am trying to keep up with the home things:). I now understand it when retired people would  say “I don’t know how I found the time to work”.

My  birthday card today is for one of the best bosses I  ever had. Happy Birthday Beth.

I went monochromatic today with the new In Color powder pink. I know some people find  monochromatic boring, but I  see this card as simple and elegant . I am going to post the directions today as this is a quick card to put together.  The A2 card base is powder pink cardstock. I  cut whisper white cardstock 2 3/8 by 5 1/2. I then layered a piece of powder pink Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper cut at 2 1/8  by 5 1/2 to the whisper white strip. I glued a lace doily to the back of the strip. I then adhered the layers to the card base. The happy birthday stamp is in the set called Special Celebrations. I then punched the greeting with the new Pretty Label punch. I used dimensionals to pop onto the card. I then added some Rhinestone Jewels. And I usually add three to symbolize my three children.

I am doing a class at our local library in a few weeks. This will be one of the cards made.

Thank you for stopping by and until next time. Have a great weekend. Char

Wild About Flowers

20170808_142149

I have just gotten back from a couple of camping trips. Every year for the past seven years Tom and I have taken our grandsons camping at the same state park . Well this year our youngest granddaughter joined us for the first time. She is 17 months old. She only stayed one night but we all had fun. Of course the best part is foil dinners and smores by the campfire.

The second week was for my husband’s 25th annual family reunion.  Between 50-60 people gather in campers the first weekend in August to catch up on what has happened the previous year. We had so many little ones this year. We  all put some Irish hats, beads , or whatever on and  paraded around the park. The other campers moved their chairs to the road and waited for us to toss  candy .  We also had a big kickball game . All ages played. So much fun.

Well to bring you to my card for today. I had a dear friend retire on August 2nd. I made her this card knowing she loves flowers . We had some fun times in the years we worked together . I wish her good health and happiness in her retirement .

I used one of the flower sets in  the Wild about Flowers stamp set (there are three) . The stem part I stamped in Wild Wasabi  and the flowers in the new In Color Berry Burst. I stamped on a piece of crushed curry designer paper from the new Color Theory Stack. Do you like the look of paint chips on the  piece of paper ? I was a little unsure at first but liked the end result. I layered Wild Wasabi cardstock to white. I then took some Berry Burst cardstock and put in the new Polka Dot Basics embossing folder . I then let the Big Shot take over. The folder has become a favorite with  customers and demonstrators too! The greeting comes from the stamp set Vertical Greetings. And of course I used dimensionals .

Here is a list of items I used:

Paper: White , Berry Burst, Wild Wasabi, Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack

Ink: Wild Wasabi and Berry Burst

Embellishment: Crushed Curry Mini Chevron Ribbon

If you would like to order any of these items press the shop now button. If you have any  questions please contact me.

Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits

20170724_173033

Good Morning!! As I am having coffee and writing this post I am filled with emotion. This card is for my granddaughter Brianne-Bri for short. I am attending her bridal shower tomorrow. I wish her much happiness and joy in her marriage. She is beautiful inside and out.

The shower invitation so happened to  match StampinUp! colors Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride. The picture above looks more white than Very Vanilla. I cased part of this card from Pinterest but added my love. Again I used the stamp set Special Celebrations (pg. 23). Such a versatile set.  The beautiful heart is found in the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit set. The thinlits coordinate with the Bloomin’ Love photopolymer stamp set (pg. 88). I use the magnetic platform (pg. 209) with the Big Shot and then use the die brush to remove small pieces. Dimensionals pop the heart and flowers. I added pearls to the flowers. Here is a list of items I used:

Pearl Basic Jewels- 144219

Bloomim’ Heart Thinlits – 140621

Special Celebrations Stamp Set – 143885

Blushing Bride Cardstock – 131198

Very Vanilla Cardstock – 101650

Have a great day . Thank you for stopping by. Until next time. Char

Special Celebrations

20170724_122828.jpg

Today I am going to share a birthday card using two different shapes to display the greeting. First of all I have used the stamp set Special Celebrations sold on pg. 23 in the annual catalog. The set includes stamps for a bridal shower, wedding, baby, friend, and this beautiful birthday greeting. The font is so eloquent. One card is made  4 x 4 and the other is a notecard . I used the new In Color fresh fig and a matching strip of Fresh Florals Designer Series  Paper.

Now to get to the shapes . The top shape I used the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and the Layering Ovals Framelits . Remember to always stamp first and then run through the Big Shot. If the Big Shot is to remain on your wish list for now use the Pretty Label punch(pg.207) as seen in bottom card. Again stamp first and then punch. Dot the “i” in birthday with a rhinestone to add a little bling.

As a reminder if you  join StampinUp! in July you get $72. 00 worth of additional product chosen by StampinUp! for you plus the normal $125.00 worth of product for $99.00. Great offer  with no obligations. Click the join now button .

Have  a   great day . I need to address one of these cards and walk to the mailbox. I love birthdays and sending cards.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time. Char
